What the Furry Market aims to provide a safe environment where all attendees are able to enjoy the event to the fullest. You can help with this by considering your actions fully and keeping the wellbeing of those around you, including staff and the public, in mind. We ask that you be mindful that your actions can affect the community and those around you.
Your attendance at What the Furry Market requires that you follow the below guidelines. The market reserves the right to limit or remove access of any person/s to the event if we believe their behaviour has breached the code of conduct.
YOU MUST SHOW YOUR BADGE AT ALL TIMES IN THE EVENT SPACE
Upon picking up your registration for the event, you will be given a badge. This badge must be visible at all times inside the venue and will be checked. This badge is yours alone and cannot be given to someone else to give them access.
BE ON YOUR BEST BEHAVIOUR
We all expect to be in a safe environment, and we want to be able to return to this venue in the future. Common sense is your best friend!
All attendees must:
- Follow all local laws
- Not smoke or vape indoors or near the entrances to the venue. Be mindful of other attendees and move away if asked
- Not enter areas that are not assigned to What the Furry Market. We may share this space with the public.
- Not block emergency exits, doorways or paths
- Not partake in excessive or inappropriate displays of affection
- Not be nude
- Not partake in acts of a sexual nature publicly
THREATS, HARASSMENT AND HATE SPEECH
Any abusive behaviour towards attendees, staff or the public will not be tolerated. Abusive behaviour includes, but is not limited to:
- Verbal abuse
- Physical abuse
- Harassment
- Intimidation
- Threatening or aggressive behaviour
- Discriminatory or derogatory language or imagery
- Bullying or repeated unreasonable demands
Harassment does not require intent. If someone feels harassed, the behavior must cease immediately.
Your actions can be considered abusive regardless of your intent. How your actions are received matters.
Personal disagreements from outside of the market should be resolved via the appropriate channels. If a breach of our rules has occurred outside of the event, the event may take action to protect the wider community only if adequate proof of wrongdoing is provided.
CONSENT
A fursuit, costume or clothing choice does not give you consent to touch others. Always ask before touching another person, even for a hug. Keep a reasonable distance between yourself and others while in the den so as not to accidentally touch others.
No means no. Stop means stop.
You don’t get to determine what is okay for someone else!
DRESS STANDARDS
A minimum dress standard of pants/skirt/dress, shoes and a shirt is expected at all times in and around the event space.
Clothing or gear that is overly fetish related is NOT allowed. Collars, harnesses, muzzle and leashes may be worn, but they MUST NOT be tugged on, held on to, or used to lead other attendees around the event space.
COSTUMING
You take responsibility for your own costume and health while in costume. If you feel unwell, please immediately sit down and ask someone to get you fluids and find a staff member to assist you. Emergency services are known to cut costumes off people if they fall ill, so please take care of yourself to avoid this tragedy.
We do not have a dedicated space for fursuiters to change. Please wear your undergarment (skins/sports clothing) to the event, or be prepared to change into your undergarments in a public bathroom.
PERSONAL BELONGINGS
What the Furry Market holds no liability for any items lost or stolen. There will not be a coat check. Do not leave your belongings unattended. If items are found unattended, they may be relocated if an owner is not found in a timely manner.
HYGIENE
You must maintain a reasonable level of hygiene for the comfort of other attendees. We understand that hygiene can be hard, and as such deodorant will be available on site. If someone attends with an odour that other attendees may find offensive, they will be asked to try some deodorant. If that does not work they will be asked to leave the event.
DRONES
Drones are NOT allowed at this market. Do not bring them.
VENUE AND EVENT PROPERTY
- Respect all venue and event property
- Do not place stickers on any venue or event property unless authorised to do so. We understand stickers are fun, but property damage isn’t.
- Do not attach or alter any venue or event property without permission from staff
If you are found to be damaging property (including stickering), you may be held liable for any damages
DRUGS AND ALCOHOL
No illegal drugs or alcohol are allowed in or around the event space.
PHOTOGRAPHY AND MEDIA
By attending What the Furry Market you give permission for any media obtained by the event to be used for promotional purposes – this includes photos of the den and any stalls within.
If you are taking photos as an attendee, please make effort to ensure you obtain consent from all of those within your photo.
BAG INSPECTION
What the Furry Market staff maintain the right to inspect any bag and their contents as required. Refusal of a bag check request may result in you being asked to leave the event.
DEALERS AND SELLING GOODS
Only approved vendors can sell their goods at the market, and only in their designated space. Any person found selling anything in or around the event space that is not an authorised dealer
will be asked to pack up
VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers are expected to uphold the best behaviour. You represent the WTFM and hold a certain level of responsibility, therefore you must act appropriately at all times. If you feel like you cannot uphold the standards expected of you, please talk to a staff member to find a solution.
If you abandon your duties as a volunteer (as lined out to you before the event) you negate any and all benefits provided to you. You may be denied the opportunity to work with WTFM in the future.
What the Furry Market reserves the right to amend this Code of Conduct at any time without prior notice.
